Project

Century West provided design engineering and construction management for the Coast Avenue Improvements project. The project includes the replacement of approximately 3,000 linear feet of existing 6-inch asbestos concrete (AC) waterline with new 8-inch Class 150 C900 PVC pipe. Other water system improvements included the installation of four fire hydrants and 68 water services. We also designed improvements to the pavement along the extents of the project and storm system reconstruction at the Coast Avenue intersection with Ellingson Street on the north end of the project. The City had initially also requested a new storm outfall at this location, but Century West analyzed the condition and capacity of an existing outfall to determine that the outfall was sufficient. This saved the City on project costs and also eliminated potential long-term maintenance concerns as a new outfall location would be adjacent to existing sea walls that would be prone to erosion.
