Water

Access to clean drinking water is a necessary part of any municipality’s infrastructure system. Century West’s experienced civil engineers are committed to providing excellent service to our clients on water projects. We develop solutions and provide value engineering to address a variety of water supply, storage, conveyance, and pumping facilities projects.

City of Newport (WA), South Bench Reservoir, Wells, & Transmission Main Project

Century West was instrumental in assisting the City of Newport in obtaining more than $3.9M in loan and grant funding for the South Bench Reservoir, Wells, and Transmission Main project through the Washington Community Development Block Grant program and US Department of Agriculture Rural Development loans. Our team oversaw the design of the 500,000-gallon water reservoir, greensand filter treatment system for elevated manganese and iron levels, the development of two new water well sources, and a 4,500-gallons-per-minute booster pump system to match the system pressures of the existing system. We also provided construction administration services to the City and oversaw the residents' project inspection.

City of Hood River, Sherman Avenue Water & Wastewater Rehabilitation

Century West was the design engineer for the rehabilitation of 3,400 feet of wastewater mains and services including 11 manholes and 38 service cleanouts, and over 1,000 feet of new watermains, services, and meters within Sherman Avenue in Hood River. Project elements also included a mill and inlay of a new asphalt street surface and the design of 11 new ADA-compliant corner ramps. A key challenge to this project was the location and identification of existing infrastructure. In a town as old as Hood River, the utility records are limited, if existing at all. Century West spent considerable time researching records and City GIS, and conducting field reconnaissance with City Operations crews. This extra effort aided the design and added to the institutional knowledge within the City.

City of Newport (OR), Yaquina Heights Waterline

Century West provided design and construction management services for the City of Newport to replace 2,000 feet of the existing 6-inch-diameter waterline along NE Yaquina Heights Drive with a new 8- to 12-inch-diameter waterline starting at the intersection of NE Harney Street. Other improvements included installing two pressure-reducing vault assemblies and extending an existing 8-inch-diameter sanitary sewer main approximately 350 feet to the end of the existing waterline that was replaced. Following the completion of the waterline and sanitary sewer installation, the road received an asphalt concrete overlay.

City of Oregon City, Clairmont Area Water Lines

The City of Oregon City and Century West have recently completed an essential infrastructure project, updating water mains along three key roadways near Clairmont Way. Ahead of the City’s 2024 Pavement Maintenance Utility Fee program, which Century West is also designing and constructing, the team replaced around 4,885 LF of old water mains with 8-inch ductile iron pipes. Funded by the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act, this project aimed to improve the water system, adding new copper service lines, modern meters with pressure-reducing valves, and installing new hydrants and air valves at crucial points.

Town of Northport, Reservoir & Water Treatment Project

Century West designed a 100,000-gallon water storage reservoir project to supplement the available storage for the City of Northport. Our design included a special foundation design to support the reservoir on fill material and a treatment system design consisting of green sand filtration to treat for the high level of manganese. The project was funded through the Washington Community Development Block Grant program and US Department of Agriculture Rural Development loans. Century West prepared funding applications and all environmental (NEPA and SEPA) documentation for the project.
