Meet Elliott Szoke, our newest intern at Century West. Elliott is currently in his junior year at Central Washington University pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management with two Minors in Project Management and Leadership.
Elliott joined the Ellensburg Office in September 2022 after learning about the internship from a professor. Wanting the work experience, Elliott applied and, “I fell in love with the work life and being able to work in the field I am most passionate about: aviation.” When asked what his favorite part of the internship has been thus far, Elliot said, “Although I have enjoyed learning so many new things in the aviation planning world, I would have to say my favorite part has been the people I work with here. Everyone throughout the company is great to work with, and it really makes you want to stick around.”
Working on several ongoing projects, Elliott assists our team of aviation planners with preparing airport master plans and analyzing data. “An unexpected but exciting opportunity I had was to learn AutoCAD with Mark Steele in the Bothell office.”
We are thrilled to have Elliott on our team and are confident that he will make valuable contributions to our projects. Not only does he have a strong academic background, but he also has a passion for aviation and nature. “I love anything and everything in the outdoors. I love to backpack, ski, camp, play sports, kayak, hunt, and fish. I am also a pilot and love to fly whenever I can in my spare time.”
At Century West, we believe in providing opportunities for young professionals to grow and develop their skills. “I am currently serving in the Army National Guard,” Elliott mentioned, “which Century west has been supportive of, offering me flexibility when I’m required to drill monthly. I love the work-life balance at Century West.” We are excited to see how Elliot grows through the mentorship and support offered by our planning team!
“Elliott has set the bar high for our internship program and has a bright future in aviation and airport planning.” – Elliott’s supervisor and Aviation Planner Samantha Peterson, ACE
