Richland Municipal Airport, Electric Replacement Design

Richland, WA

Project

Century West assisted the Port of Benton with design, bidding, and inspection during the project’s construction to replace all the owned electrical systems and fixtures at the Port of Benton’s Richland Airport. The replacements included edge lights, PAPIs, REILs, wind cones for both runways, and all taxiway edge lighting at the Airport. Significant electrical room improvements and an emergency generator were also constructed as part of the project. Since construction of the edge lighting occurred near the runways and taxiways, the construction phase required closing all runways and taxiways to aircraft traffic. This project involved a relatively complex construction phasing plan to ensure that pilots had access to at least one runway during construction. The project was designed in 2021 and constructed in 2022.
