Main Street is the primary arterial through the entire length of the City of Smelterville, and was in very poor condition with deteriorating concrete pavement. Century West completed the design and construction management for the full depth reconstruction of Main Street for the full length of the City, over 5,700 linear feet. The project included complete removal of the deteriorated pavement, excavation of unsuitable and contaminated sub-grade, and placement of hot mix asphalt pavement. The project is located within the Bunker Hill Superfund Cleanup “Box” and was subject to the additional restrictions of the Institutional Controls Program (ICP) and Federal contracting requirements.
